Jordan's 3rd Grade Music Concert - Spring 2010
St. Patrick's Day 2010
Ever since a leprechaun visited Jordan's preschool class, he is sure that they are real. I've explained that leprechauns are mysterious, yet very particular little guys. They're pretty much OCD with certain things, such as the fact that they won't leave a gift at your house unless it's clean. They don't like to be seen and are super fast. (I still don't get how we never see them drop gifts off at our home!) They enjoy lots of sweets, being silly, and insist on having as many green things as possible.
The leprechauns were good to us this year:

Every night I go in to check on the children to make sure they're okay in their beds. This is how I found Maya:
When I downloaded the picture and showed Maya, I jokingly told her I was going to post it on our blog. She actually liked the idea and asked when I was going to post it...and I was hoping it would fall into the future "blackmail" category. For the record: she didn't have a bloody nose--she had a runny nose and was stopping the dripping.

"Half baked"
I LOVED Debbie McKinlay's talk today in our ward when she gave the example of how she dealt with her kids' mediocrity.
Anyway, she had an "epiphany" and decided to show them what it would be like if she did a "half-baked" job with certain things. That afternoon she picked them up from school (a special privilege), but told them to get out of the car when they were like 6 houses away from home. They were stunned and finally got out as she drove home into the garage. She told them to do their chores, one of which was to put their clean clothes away. She had them all washed and folded neatly on their beds, but she hadn't dried them at all. The kids were stupified by this as well. She would always respond, "Well, it's good enough for me," or something similar to that. Then at dinner she made hamburgers, french fries, salad, and brownies. She cooked hers and her husbands normally, but for the kids she browned the burgers on the outside but left them raw in the middle. She defrosted the fries but didn't cook them, and the salad was a head of lettuce, as well as the other produce, sitting in a bowl unwashed and unprepared. The brownies were the package poured into a bowl but not mixed. The kids were really confused and grossed out at this point, as the juices were dripping out of their raw burgers. Debbie and her husband were telling each other how great their meal was, as the kids sat their in shock. She then talked to them about doing jobs just well enough to get by but not doing them really well, which is what a lot of people do.
I think it was ingenious, and I'm not sure if it will work with my kids at this age, but I'll definitely use her inspiration in the future if need be. Brilliant and inspired! :)

Aaron's Windows 7 Launch Trip - 2009
In October Aaron did a major business trip to Tokyo, Shanghai, Cebu (Philippines), Amsterdam, and Milan.

This is a view as Aaron flew over Mongolia. He said it was shocking how there was NOTHING for hours! He compared it to the landscape of the moon.

I was SO jealous that Aaron made it to Italy before I did, but I still made sure he tried the gelato. He got the mint chocolate in my honor and said it would've been my favorite frozen treat EVER! Some day...some day... :) It's also VERY cool that he was in both the Philippines and Italy, where our sisters are/will be serving their missions.
